Description

Sky Carter is a Sydney based artist, specialising in textiles and weaving techniques. This installation is her second time at Birkenhead Point, and is inspired by an opulent Chinese gardens.

The mannequin is swathed in shimmering golden fabric that drapes and extends far beyond her body across the floor. She is surrounded by an abundance of elements that imply she is standing lush garden. Gold orbs hang around her and crisscrosses above her head, they could be Christmas baubles, presents or twinkling stars, it’s up to the viewer to decide.  There is an implication of Christmas or celebration and these elements add a festive flavour to the window.
